So this is an on and off project i've been working on for the past 8 or so months, lots of stuff still needs to be done but let me know what you think of it so far:

I can't really comment too much on the individual games. I mean technically, what you showed as finished you pulled off. Really it's just a case of making it look...prettier.

The 'whack-a-gnome' and ball shooting game - might want to make them slightly lower number of turns?
The driving game - does the terrain have any effect on the control of the vehicle? Also - change the surroundings. Add crowds/stands? Something to mix up the wall boundaries that are currently there.

Anyway - my main thoughts are pretty much aesthetic. Otherwise it's solid work. Looking forward to future updates and being able to try it out.

What's your ultimate aim for it?

well this is still early days i made this thread with the intention of showing off the games which is the main purpose of the map, making it look nicer will probably be the last thing i'll do

you mean like make them 30 seconds long? i'll consider that. when i made the cars i wasn't sure how the handling would be but i kind of like it i thought it was fitting for rallying so i left it as it is

just to make a whole bunch of games like a real arcade, when its finished i'll rent out a server which has this map, i think it will turn out well

How could you shoot Coolspot like that?!

Anyway, this is a pretty cool concept. The thing is, it's just awful looking. I hate to be blunt but I have to. The rally game is especially ugly. Even if it's based on a really old Sega game, you should try and make it look pleasing to the eyes at least.

What I think you should do is consider learning how to model and then model all the arcade systems and stuff, rather than make everything out of brushes. It would allow you create small details that you couldn't normally make with brushes.

And lastly, the clashing arcade sounds, while realistic, would probably get annoying for some players after a while. I think you should try and incorporate a system so that players only hear an arcade system when they're within a certain distance of it. You could probably find an audio sample of an "arcade atmosphere" that loops and put that in the background of the map, but at a low volume so it doesn't obscure anything. Or hell, you could go all out and make a custom sound scape with various arcade sounds that play at random, just to keep things dynamic. :D

Anyway, keep at it. You have a decent start.

Really off to a good start I will give it that. Good models would certainly help through for the arcade machines.

If I could texture well I wouldn't mind volunteering to make those arcade units for ya, but I am only good with making the meshes at current. That is if you could use models with blank skins then by all means, but there are people here who could do the whole job better then I could anyway. Best of luck to you though, be sure to post here at Interlopers when you are finished or need some testers.

i know a bit about how 3ds max works, is it that you have trouble finding the textures or is it that you can't apply them to models well? because i can send you all the textures i have in the map

you can test it with me if you want, add me on steam friends http://steamcommunity.com/id/NAPREDATOR if you ever see me in hl2dm thats probably me testing, i leave the server public so you can just come in any time

This is awesome, I love seeing fresh, off the wall concepts as opposed to interactive wallpaper.

As for the modelling comments, don't be afraid to give Propper a try, it was made for stuff like this. Doesn't matter that a model wasn't made in a 3rd party program, like you say most of heavy labour is entity work here, and you're in for a lot more of it looks like. Save yourself some precious time.

You say you have a server running, is that local or dedicated? I don't see an IP. If it's not SRCDS, I'd suggest renting one now and doing hard testing as the netcode for HL2DM is pretty fucked up thanks to zero support. Would hate to have to rebuild a bunch of crap because of some obscure glitch in server code ( of which there are many ). I'd also be curious as to how these interactions work with high ping players onboard.
