[HL2 Ep2] Depot

I started this project in late 2007, but all those years I've been busy because of getting education. So, time is come to finish the project!

Approximately in 2005 or 2006 I first time seen "combine depot" concept-art, and this picture amaze me. It looks so mysterious and atmospheric, and I become addicted of this idea :D I started to search maps, mods about this theme, but I didn't find nothing interesting. So, later I made a decision - to create this location.

Now my project done is about 95% - I mean whole work - level geometry, scripts, models, textures, etc. I plan to release it before 2013, maybe a bit later.

Hahaha. Dunno why I found this so funny.

Anyway, I really like the giant railroad bridge. It gives a sense of vastness to the scene. Things like that appeal to me.

Well the second pic reminds me a lot of Valve's Depot map from the E3 beta. Missing Information mod on moddb restored the content seen at E3 into a downloadable mod (the depot also being in there). As a matter of fact I also became obsessed with the idea of recreating or using the theme from the E3 ravenholm too. Even though I know you root yours from concept they were just both in there so I thought I would note the similarity.

Looking good though, aside that the closest lower rock in the first pic has a bizzar texture transition from side face to top, it looks like it is starting to take good shape. Maybe some smaller thinner brushwork/models along the top of what you can see may help add some fine detail and break it up a little.

Sure, both maps (wasteland and yard) have gameplay :)

Looks neat, but isn't Combine architecture curveless, with hard angles instead?

I think everything is very off scale compared to the concept art. The buildings are all perfectly parallel to each other which seems very odd for them being built on a cliff side. The long pipe is also very odd looking since there are no supports, I know it's in the concept but it just looks weird in yours. Here's another interpretation that might help with the perspective.

You got the second image perfect though, the train tracks look infinite, very nice effect.

I see no reason to have the third screenshot. :P

Why? A lot of models of combine devices have a curve lines - for example:

If you are really serious about this you should try and model a lot of these details up so you can benefit the most out of it. Just saying but otherwise I still think it is really cool going over these to depict certain concepts.

31 december you'll see wasteland and prison yard. I have bays level, but it's VERY raw, so I need time to make a level with good gameplay and visual.

Please tell me you have some massive colour correction in there and NOT photoshop? Otherwise, I'd really like to see the gunship bays. Going by "Raising the Bar" I assume?
