Firstly, nice work for a second map.

It's obviously a learning map, I can tell from the way you have put it together. Some things you might want to work on are lighting, the last three images need some work on them, some are to dark or just to blue :P

Also I'm not sure what this is meant to be? Some kind of futuristic base?

Anyway just keep learning all you can and work on details a bit more, like the first screenshot.

Looking not too bad for a 2nd map :) - but like blink said, lighting could do with some work. Not to worry tho - it will all come together nicely in time

I think you have a button somewhere that you push and it puts those words in for you because that's what you say about every map. :smt081

Well maybe I should abuse him for starting out on mapping and act like the dumbasses at vlatitude and hl2world?

Sorry for encouraging people a bit but I feel abusing people that are new to editing is unnesscery, you seem to think it's required.

I'll try to liven up my replies just for you

Thank you for your comments..Lighting is such a pain, i am really have a tough time with it. the map is based around Maintenance tunnels and a large warehouse.. The blue room is going to see my trash bin.

I never said anything about abusing the new guys in mapping but for god sakes does every one of your map posts have to start off with " Great Map". Just suggestions tehehe :smt102

How can you talk about the people at Valtitude like that?! I understand that you can hate Terminator but people like Zombie and GingerLord and Mr Greenfish are very helpful. Zombie has helped me many times and he really knows his stuff. Plus that was part of your roots. How can you Blink how can you. :smt022

Ok, tips for the mapper:

The 'fit' button on the texture application tool is only rarely useful. Try instead to make walls and surfaces the correct size to the texture. Proper texture alignment can MAKE a map.

Secondly, it's ok to have plenty of blue glowing lights etc, as long as the rest of the room is brightened up with whiter light. Too much coloured light only looks fake and cheesy in maps (you should see my first QII maps! Neon fest).

Looking fair for an initial attempt. I'd go away and work on it some before reporting back here :)

The fit tool is essential!

Fit a wall texture then put the Y amount in the X field as well and you have a perfect sized texture in seconds
