The Basement

Postby Omnistatic on Wed Dec 15, 2004 1:57 am

I just got started on my first map with the source engine. It's a single player campaign that I am working on, and this would be the second level (yeah weird).

So far I have mapped the upstairs leading to the basement. Yet with no basement yet....

anyways, here are some screenshots of my progress.

I'd say this portion of the level is %30 complete.

Looking good so far. It's good to see someone mapping for single player. Keep the updates coming!
Dogs and Cats are boring pets......Headcrabs are much more interesting!

The window fram in pics 2 and 3 is boring, other than that - good work.

nice start - make the glass a breakable_surf i would say - looks better. Although may for the effect breakable is fine.

just a few updates, not too much...

wondering on opinions on what glass texture looks more suitable?

started work on the actual basement section

added a frame to the window, nothing fancy, but it looks better.

mostly i have been toying around with the lights, and making sure everything is leak free, and no draw textures are applied in the apllicable areas.

Looking good for the most part. But I think you should widen out the light cone to match the hood of the light. It looks like a laser beam. You fixed the window up nice.

Yeah, definitely widen out the top of the light cone so that it looks like it is coming off the hood, rather than off the bulb. The cone you've got there looks more appropriate for a torch, or flashlight as we Americans call it.

the second glass texture is by far the best one. The first one you can't see and seems too clean to fit in with the mood of your map.
