Counter-Strike replacement sounds

Postby DeathProdigy on Wed Jun 17, 2009 4:13 am

Hi all. been a few years since my last post.

So some mates wanted me to make them some custom sounds for source. Easy! i thought to myself with my past mapping knowledge I figured it would not take long at all.

We recorded the new sounds in adobe sound booth (the replacement sounds are our voices imitating the weapon sounds). Saved them as .wav. Opened up .gcf scape to find the respective spots for the sound files to go to and be named. Then placed the files in the right spots with the correct names. Jumped in game to test them out and...

Nothing.
not even the stock sound. so from what I deduce Counter-strike is loading in the sounds but one of the properties of the file is incompatible or something. So i extracted some files to check out what their sample rates where and they are different depending on the file, some are 44100 and some are 22050.

So I thought I would attach it here and see if any of you know the answer to my woes?

here is the file if you want to check it out.

I export from Audacity as WAV 16bit PCM and it never failed me.

Also, I like your idea. :-D I wanted to do something similar ages ago but never really came around doing it.

Eventually with a few more beers and friday nights of playing cs, me and my mates will finish these off and I'll release as a pack. nothing too special thought, just us imitating weapon sounds with our voices.
