[mod] Weather Control: Requesting voice act

Weather Control
A HL2: Episode Two modification

I've just reached the final stages of the first chapter of Weather Control, a HL2: Episode 2 mod. As the mod involves a lot of new story, barney will follow you as a side kick and will be explaining what things are and what you are supposed to do.

I need someone to record about 30 sentences spoke by barney. I'll be grateful if you are able to remove the noise too. Other effects are optional. The mod is already in internal beta, but players are having difficulty in understanding where they are and what they are supposed to do. The following screenshot shows one of the debbuging tests. HDR, reflections and other effects will be present in the final release.

If you think you can interpret Barney, please, reply here or enter in contact.

I wouldn't make a good barney but I will say it looks like an interesting mod.

However one critique, the fog doesn't blend well with the skybox. Its a bit to dark and needs more orange. Other then that maybe some smoke volumes to make the fog look even more realistic. The cooling tower looks very sharp and contrasting even though its so far in the background, thats what makes it stick out so much so the smoke volume should soften the edges and the blending fog wont make it so contrasting.

Yeah, I'm still tweaking the fog to match the skybox. But I tried the smoke volume, but as it's in the sky, it will look squareish from distance. I may make a 2d fog to be seen from distance, like the one valve used to blend the citadel. But then when the player get nearer, the fog will get denser and the 2d brush will be killed. As the player passes by an underground area, he will not notice it. But thanks for the suggestion.

I would suggest adding some hills or factorys in the 3D skybox.

You might ask around on the Black Mesa forums. From what I saw in their second trailer, they seem to have recorded some new lines for Barney which sounded really good.

Will there be any reference to the Air Exchange in your mod?

It is supposed to be the air exchange. It just uses the original idea: a factory in the middle of the wasteland which sucks all the oxigen from the atmosphere and release gases to allow the combine to live in earth.

It's middle desert and the factory is not too large in the surface. It was originaly a nuclear powerplant, and most of the buildings around have ruined and the Combine only kept what was useful for them (for instance, the cooling tower).Won't spoil any further ;)

[mod] Weather Control: Requesting voice act

It is supposed to be the air exchange. It just uses the original idea: a factory in the middle of the wasteland which sucks all the oxigen from the atmosphere and release gases to allow the combine to live in earth.

In hl2 beta/alpha Weather control and Air exchange are not the same, even if they did have similar purpose, they where located on 2 different places.

from the looks of it ...it is more of an Air exchange mod then weather control mod.

..btw that screenshot has some good atmosphere to it
-science: nothing can be destroyed only transformed into new forms.
-me: true death is a lie there is only transformation, unless sciences very core is wrong.

I don't want to spoil it, but the player and Barney won't use gas maskes. At least not in this part of the game. When they get nearer the cooling tower, barney complains he can't breath well. The air is only unbreathable to the combine, because it still not fully converted to their atmosphere, but the humans can still breath, even if it's not recomended. Barney has a modifyed combine mask, so he will be able to use it when it get too hard to breath. And the player uses the HEV suit! If it sustained him in the resonance cascade and even xen without a helmet, it can sustain it anywhere ;-)

Now about the title: Really, I'll decide it at least. The same goes for the chapter name. Currently the surface chapter is called The air conditioner, but it will probably change in the end. And the name of the mod has no reference with original chapters of Half-life: 2. They had a chapter called Weather Control, and just that. There wasn't even a map showing it, just a script. If I remember well, Weather Control was supposed to be the return to the air conditioner, when it was destroyed. And there are so many mods out there called The Air Exchange that would make confusions.

Anyway, I'm acepting ideas for a title to the mod and to the chapter.
