I need a couple of things for my upcoming creepy L4D2 campaign. I know it's gonna sound strange but I need the following:
- I need someone to whisper "Help me", "Help!" and "Don't leave me!" in a mic. It needs to be whispering because that just sounds more creepy. I don't have a decent mic to do this (there is too much background noise) so I would need someone to do this for me if possible.
- Secondly, I have the sound of a cow's moo. I need to make it sound distant. Like if you were walking in a forest and you heard a distant cow's moo. I've tried various standard echo filters in Sound forge but none sound like I want. Can someone give me advice on how to make a clip sound distant and outside (in a forest)

Probably not of much help, but I just looked through freesound and thought that was kinda cool (distant cow moo's, sounds fairly creepy)

I guess I've spent too much time in the countryside to find cow moo's scary.
Friendly tip, try pulling a blanket over your head, acts like soundproofing.

not sure what kind of reverb settings soundforge has but..

try using reverb and turn the dry volume all the way down so you only get the reverbed moo, also set the diffuse setting all the way up, keep the width setting low, but set the room size high.

I dunno what kinda reverb a forest would have (very small if any I'd think), but I think one of the keys to making things sound distant is applying a filter to the sound to cut lower frequencies in a somewhat linear sense. Lower frequencies decay faster as they travel through air.

Sounds cool but to be honest, if a survivor is asking for help, I am guessing it'd be more in desperation screaming than whispering !
