SMD Collisionmesh tool for 3DS Max

Postby shawnolson on Tue May 26, 2009 11:24 pm

If you want to save a few seconds/minutes and knock off several clicks when designing a Collision Mesh in 3D Studio Max, you should consider using the SMD Collisionmodel Prep Tool. It's a MaxScript a friend and I wrote to automate a couple seemingly pointless steps in making staticprop $collisionmodel SMDs.

If you use it, feel free to send me your feedback.

Always nice to see people creating tools for the community to use. Although I might not have many uses for it as I am slowly moving away from source. Thank you for the scripts and well it may come in useful at some point.

This thing was in my list of things to do in Max. :/ It seems that whenever I get a great idea and start to think how to best accomplish it, at that moment someone else completes it.

Great tool nonetheless.

Actually, looking at it right now I probably wouldn't be able to make it half as good as you guys did it.

Oh my...Wish I saw this earlier today as I've been trying to get my collision working for a cardboard cutout and it's taken me until tonight to realise I forgot you also have to attach the ref model to the bone when exporting so I've been remaking the collision model 3 times so far and had to painfully assign smoothing groups over and over.

This tool will really help! Thanks!

For those of you who liked the SMD Collision Mesh Tool... here's something a lot more convenient: The Wall Worm Model Tools
