ERROR: cannot find bone "static_prop" for bbox

Postby 2007CA on Sun Oct 17, 2010 3:21 pm

This happens when I try to compile my model. I was told that a static_prop bone would be created automatically by the .SMD exporter, but it seems I did something wrong, or that the bone is somehow not being read properly? Here's my QC. It's pretty much cobbled together from the QC I got from when I first decompiled the model I was modifying.
Code: Select all
$cd "C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\2007ca\sourcesdk_content\hl2\modelsrc\<myname>"
$modelname "<myname>/monitor03.mdl"
$model "Body" "monitor03_reference.smd"
$lod 15
 {
  replacemodel "monitor03_reference" "lod1_monitor03_reference"
}
$lod 20
 {
  replacemodel "monitor03_reference" "lod2_monitor03_reference"
}
$cdmaterials "<myname>\monitor_reskin_2/"
$texturegroup skinfamilies
{
   { "Monitor03.vmt" "Monitor03_screen.vmt" }
}
$hboxset "default"
$hbox 0 "static_prop" -12.231  -11.098  -0.169  12.241  11.258  24.550
$surfaceprop "Plastic_Box"
$keyvalues  { prop_data { "base" "Metal.Medium"  } }
$illumposition 0.005 0.080 12.190
$sequence idle "monitor03_idle.smd" fps 30.00
$collisionmodel "monitor03_phys.smd" {

   $concave
   $mass 25.0
   $inertia 1.00
   $damping 0.00
   $rotdamping 0.00
}

It makes a bone, but it's named whatever your object is named in Max.

Take out the $hbox and $hboxset lines. Decompiler puts that in and you don't really need it.

Great, that worked. Two problems left now. One, the LOD models don't quite line up correctly, because the model wasn't centered when I started working on it and I wanted it to be. Two, I think my idle sequence .smd might be a little glitched somehow, when I bring everything up in HLMV, the frame slider at the bottom flickers back and forth seemingly uncontrollably.
