Question about the sizing of models

Postby stukabomber44 on Tue Jan 11, 2011 4:13 pm

I'm very new to modeling and animation. I have 3ds Max and Maya so far I've put about 29 hours in the past week and I LOVE IT. I'm starting to make legitimate props (chairs, benches, cupboards, and I'm even starting to move into guns) My question is how does the source engine measure it's props and weapons? Are they scaled to real size or is there a unit of measurement I should know and learn about? I've started making an M14 and I just want to make add it to the mod I'm making to check it out, how do I make sure it's not too small or too big??

Thanks guys!

Okay so just to make sure on this, when I look at my units setup it says US standard Fractional Inches... is that correct? Or is there another unit of measurement to select?

Inches is fine, yes. You can use fractions (1/4, 1/2) or decimal places ... I prefer decimals, being used to the European system. But as long as you have inches, everything will work fine.
