Help with importing a custom model

Postby MrSometimes on Fri Mar 18, 2011 12:33 pm

Hello I've created a custom model which I wish to use to replace the crowbar in HL2, however I don't know how exactly to do that and I haven't been able to find any tutorials. I have a .SMD file.

I hope someone can nudge me in the right direction!

This tutorial will tell you all you need to know

You need to create a qc file as described here. When you have it, save it as <modelname>.qc, right click and run with studiomdl.exe, which can be found in the sourcesdk\bin\orangebox\bin folder. You should be able to see it in the model browser thing in hammer.

If you look in ..\sourcesdk_content\hl2\modelsrc\weapons, all the HL2 weapon source files are in there. Just replace Crowbar_reference.smd with your own SMD.
