Problem whit dynamic shadows and flashlight

Hi, in Episode 2 and in all Source games where you use flashlight, dynamic shadows are not working. Also I can't customize my shadow detail settings and I can't choose High Quality as well (I have only Low and Medium available). I've got nb NVidia GT425M graphic card and I don't understand why can't I choose higher settings as it used to work in the past.

I honestly don't know what to tell you. I have to force DX9 in my source games else it gives me a 3d error. Try looking up start up commands for graphics settings, so that you can have your graphics options set upon running. If i find something i'll tell you.

You could try a fresh reinstall.

Try to launch the game with -dxlevel 98.

I tried reinstalling the game. and steam. but no change

Might be able to force it, look at the CVars under r_flashlight, should be one for enabling shadows.

I find it curious that your direct X version says "directx 9.0" and not 9.0c

Are you able to enable HDR? or is it greyed out?

HDR works. I installed the latest DX

Take a look at your Hardware DX setting, it should say something like Direct X V9.0+, not V9.0
I would say you need to update DX 9
