EP2 content?

Postby fishshapedfish on Sun May 27, 2012 7:52 pm

I decided to make our teams mod work in hammer. So I made a nice custom fgd and sorted out all the directories in hammer. Then, I went to put down an ep2 texture and realised that they were missing even though I included ep2 content in the gameinfo.txt. I've tried everything to try and fix this but I have had no luck. Any ideas? :?: :?:

Extract the materials from ep2 using gcfscape and manually copy them over? It's bulky but it would work. That or try again and make sure you have all the paths correct.

You should use EP2 hammer to make the map first and move the map file to your mod, in mod code will mount ep2(from gameinfo.txt), but hammer only can use search paths.

If your mod can't load Source 2009 maps, create a ep2 mod setting at Source 2007.

See we had been mapping for some time using 2009 version of Hammer and then opening the map in the 2007 version (under the mod) to compile it. This was done to avoid the black grids, and interface glitches involved with building under the stock version of 2007.

So now that we took the time to get it working under the actual mod that left us here with the lack of EP 2 content. We got everything else working otherwise, which from my knowledge just had to have some resolved paths in the gameinfo.txt as well as the fgd. Just getting this to work as it should would take care of a lot of workarounds we currently have been dealing with, and would also speed things up a lot.

This is the only way I've gotten it to work. I've looked around for a more graceful solution but it seems that valve insists on not wanting to(or is uncapable of?) fixing Hammer. So let me save you the trouble and just go with what stormy said.

There has got to be a way? Cause it is not just the materials either. It is all EP 2 content. That would be a huge mess. Isn't this just a path/target issue in the fgd or Hammer config? Cause it really seems like it is. Just to be sure I am going to look into all my settings again to see.

I guess we're gonna have to keep mapping in 2009 and compiling in 2007 then. I guess it's okay because we can add all the ep2 content in 2009, then open the map up in 2007 and add any custom assets to the map. Only problem would be that all the ep2 content would look like errors and white textures in the editor; although it would show up correctly ingame.
