maybe because I made it because I wanted to, not because ZOMG ITS OVER 3k POLIES WTF DELETE.

If you're that fucking fussed about it, delete the backfaces of the in-game - it'll drop to about 3500 easily.

Dude...

no need to get uptight. He's just saying that it's good modelling practice to use as few faces as possible, and one should try and stick to the same polycounts as the rest of the game, to ensure it plays smoothly across the same range of people.

IMO the polycount probably is too high...that's not saying you're shit, or you're an idiot etc etc, just saying regardless of what visual quality you want in the model (hell, i wish i could double the polycount on all my models lol), if you wanna keep widespread high-quality playability, knock down the polys.

It was earth all along

That's just the point - I don't. It's supposed to be a custom model of higher quality than the defaults - hence higher texture res and PC. HENCE WHY IT ISNT DEFAULT. People have the option of not using it, so it doesn't *have* to be compatible with cheapskate PC's.

And if you delete the backfaces which you don't see ingame (like all the valve default models) it will drop to a comparable poly count. However, I haven't done the animations for this yet, so I havent deleted half the fricking model incase you can see the holes during the anims.

To recap : once i've finished the anims, ill delete the backfaces and it will drop to a comparable PC. no need to criticise the PC when It hasn't been fully optimised .
