3 way blend texture? Invisible bits on decals?

I got 2 questions for y'all.

1) Is there anyway i can make a 3 way blend texture?

2) How do i make some parts of my decal invisble?

With your decal, make any invisible bits pure grey (256 256 256). These parts will not show up.

KK next problem now,

heres my VMT for which is a blended texture where i want sprites,

"worldvertextransition"
{
"$basetexture" "le/grass3"
"$basetexture2" "le/mud"
"$surfaceprop" "glass"
"$surfaceprop2" "mud"
"%detailtype" "props_foliage/Grass_tuft_004b"
"$detailscale" 80
"$keywords" "hl2"
}

Detail Sprites dont show up tho :'(

for transparency, simply make an alpha channel in photoshop, (black is transparent white is opaque) and save your image in TGA 32bit then convert to VTF and in the VMT put

$translucent 1

as you know, i dunno the answer...but surely that's meant to be 'grass'?
