cant get my custom textures to work in hammer.

when i make it i dont put my textures in the sdk folder and it works fine.

VMT:

steamapps/blabla/halflife2/hl2/materials


Then for base texture

"mytex/texname"

see i dont get why you gotta do this when vtf edit can make both the vtf and vmt......is vtf edit doing somthing wrong wich is the reason why i gotta do it the long complicated way?

vtf edit just turns a tga to a vtf, to make a vmt you have to do it in notepad
