Recruiting Level Designers

Postby dexter83 on Mon Aug 22, 2011 7:57 pm

Hello.

I am recruiting level designers for a Gmod map. I would like the map to be a large city and resemble the streets of the UK. I do have reference material but I would rather put that to a mapper that is interested.

I am willing to pay well for this map providing the map is up to high standards and that it is what I have asked for. The mapper must be polite and easy to talk to. My steam name is Dexter83uk so feel free to add me if you have any inquiries or are interested.

Please look at the attached screen shot as a reference as to the housing style I desire.

What's the time-scale of the project? what are the specific requirements of the map? what would the pay be?

Best of luck to you, but I sincerely doubt you're going to get anyone interested in a project without telling them remotely anything about it.
Also two threads is fairly obnoxious.

Maybe try facepunch or better yet, make it yourself.

Firstly, Give me a chance to answer those questions before you call me start insulting me, I wasnt to sure which section to post in. Im not a bad person so please do not make me out to be one. Im a good honest person. Time frame is 3 or 4 months 6 months at a maximum. The map must look like the streets that you would see in the UK. I am working on a document to provide the mapper with all the information they need to carry out the map. As for the make it yourself remark I do not have the time or the skills. As for payment id be interested in quotes.

Thank you.

Sorry, but we are rather harsh seeing as most people who come here are like "I want a mods, ye do all the work, I sit and take screenies some time, lulz"

So ye should post more info and such, etc like what will you do and such.

That is a fair point. I can assure that I am not the sort of person to sit around and watch other people do all the work. I am at this time gathering resources eg, vehicles,Weapons, maps i openly admit i do not have many skills to develop things I more oversee the project. I am currently in process of developing a document all about the project. Its mainly a driving mod that im working on. I am willing to pay a person a nice amount of money to complete this map for me. As i say for more info add me on steam.

6 months work including creation of textures and models?

£20,000.

Of course, if you were to provide more detailed information about the project on the forum somebody who otherwise wasn't interested might come up with a lower quote.
Mappers Top Tip #548
Lighting: The arrangement, hue and intensity of one or multiple light sources.
Lightning: A dazzling discharge of electric sparks in the atmosphere, often preceding thunder.

Guys,I do no understand what the big deal is. I need a city map made for gmod to resemble the uk streets. I dont understand why you are more interested in bagging me out. Im offering paid work, what I do with my time is my business and not your concern, im paying for the map to be made. Whats the problem ? I would of thought you would be jumping at the chance.

If you read my post, It did say to contact me for more details including resources and guidelines. So then you would have all the information that you needed. I prefer not to publish my ideas as I have been burnt before posted some stuff on a forum and somone stole my idea claiming it as there own.

Hello mate, this is absolutely perfect for me! I live in the UK and I already mapped out a UK style motorway based on a real location for an RP map I was working on long ago.

I'll add your Steam name.

£20k for 6 months work sounds about right to me. Maybe even a bit on the low-end.

If it takes you 6 months to make 1 map, you would be fired from any job paying you that much.

*Unless of course you work for valve on EP3, then you are like 10x faster than them.
