We got a ton of great entires for the Man Made Melee contest and we plan on having a few more over the course of development.

Here is the winner of our contest:

We had some amazing ideas come up in this contest and I think they need to be shown here. Let us know what you think too!

Our animator is also hard at work on our weapon animations. Here is a taste of what he has been working on.

Level design for our 1st level is around 75% complete now, so look forward to some in game content very soon!

Thats all for now, thanks for reading and be sure to spread the word!

Looks good, only thing I would lead to say is that the first person view model seems just a bit lesser in quality on the texture side of things. I am guessing this is because it uses the full third person model?

Thats nothing like what you see in game, thats just a low qualtiy max render.

Ah yes that makes sense. I didn't notice it was in Max, but I guess you were not worried about detail rather then show off the animations. Might wanna add something in the captions that alludes to it being rendered in Max some where. That could help what the followers think of it over at your Moddb page too, cause there is more liable to be users thinking that is a cheap in-game render otherwise.

Just some advice to avoid further confusion there.

So todays news is short and sweat and all about content.

We started designing this guy about a year ago, and after a hand full of alterations and changes, this is what we came up with. The second mech (The Iron Mason's) is very close to being finished also, so look forward to that!

This is how we started:

Then turned into this:

And now I am proud to show you the Northland Pirates Commander

Keep in mind this is still WIP and we have some testing to do in game before we can call this finished, but its a very exciting time around here.

Feedback is always welcome. More to come very soon!

Nice work. It retains a sort of big chunky, heavy feel in the animations which some would consider to be a bad but he is big and would not have extremely dexterous movements in reality. Btw I swear that is Abney Park you got for your background music in the video, and if so you are definitely cool in my book. :smt023

You know, I actually submitted some of MoS's art assets to Captain Robert for use in an upcoming Abney Park music video.

I was cool getting an email from him.

Anyways, to further explain the animations, keep in mind the ball and chain will be ragdolled to give it a real movement as this guy stumbles around.

Very nice. Ragdoll will do well with that ball and chain. Are you going to try and make use of Unreal's physics more regularly, or just on a, "if you absolutely must basis"? I mean that saying, cause I never had seen Unreal 3 use extremely accurate physics before. So was just wondering if you were going to try and involve much more in that department?

The animations need more movement, especially the ones where the mech is attacking from a standing position. They currently look very silly and constrained, try loosening the robot up and make its actions much more fluid like an actual human.

I hate to nitpick on such a great mod but one thing I noticed with the sharp shooter gun, "examine animation" is that the cartridge cylinder spins to freely. Not a huge thing unless you are designing it around real revolvers but the cylinder should not spin freely unless the breach is open because the ratchet should engage when it is locked back in place. Not the end of the world but I just thought I would mention that for the sake of quality since you guys are already doing so well.

Keep it up though and thanks for posting it to us here at Interlopers. :smt023
