Pardon my ignorance, has any independant mapper, ever, in the history of online fps mapping(outside of competitions), been paid for mapping?; Srs no sarcasm!.

Valve paid Turtle Rock for some CSS maps. But that is a whole team, because a single mapper would not be able to finish a map in acceptable time.

All those community TF2 maps.. though they got paid AFTEr they finished it, and was luckly to get picked out by Valve and offered compensation.

This thing is just full of shit. Even people who post requests about wanting to "hire" other dudes for unpaid work give more info about what they want and why.

I am always disheartened by the standard reply to these threads. No offer has ever been good enough for someone to take it up. I did one of these a long time ago and it actually worked out really well and led to a bit of future work and some new opportunities and connections.

Work is work. Money could be the key motivation.
