Sadly no, I had to get rid of reflecting all together. At least until I make a much more even normalmap, it won't reflect well.

ATM my normal looks really poor. Good in idea, bad in practice. I need to make it so only the dots reflect, that's gonna take awhile.

So only the dots reflect? That shouldn't be taking a while at all; mind posting the alpha you used as the spec map and the texture's .vmt?

Hi. First post on interlopers. Really like the place. I'm totally up for next map battle if it has a theme.

I'm experimenting with some textures made from photos of mine. Think I need to back of a bit from my subject or I will have to much repetition. Cobble isn't tf2-ed ofc. Anyways:

So I've pretty much read through the entire thread, and it made me jealous of you guys' talents. Any chance you could point in the direction of a great learning source for creating textures?

Your lumber seems a little too rounded. I assume you used crazy bump?

Consider using something like mudbox (available to students for free) to model the lumber and bake it as a normal map. There are a few tutorials on the net to do this and the result will be much more satisfying. Like the cobble good looking texture :)
