Rotates a little fast, but there you go, some nice fogishness that rotates to a central point (specifically the mind sphere for visual purposes). You'll notice clipping and what not with the floor and ceiling but that can be fixed with a few soft particle blending settings.

Hot stuff there man. The refracting texture thing around the ball is additive which looks kind of weird.

Oh man, ok now make it shoot lasers from the orb, and have the fog go in reverse from the center of the orb

I revisited the nuclear bomb effect from long ago.. Not really exaggerated on this one, this is more for an ending scene in no more room in hell i presume.

Its hard to get a good scale for that. I'd suggest maybe a lighter grey cloud pushing outwards from the base. Add in some temporary color correction and an env_shake and we're talking business.

I wasn't going for the whole this is super powerful looking kinda thing. Hence no shake or anything. Just a bare particle, there is stuff that could be added. Its just a basic mushroom cloud.

Reminds me of the nuke particle effect for the Cod Zombies nuke you can get in-game. Not powerful and epic blast everything away kind of look, but you definitely know it's a nuke.

Any tips for creating map specific particle effects that really needs to fit perfectly? Certain length beams, for an example.

In that image, you can see I have light beam particles a certain length and then the width and height fit the windows perfectly. Only thing i can really tip on is if you want to make a particle fit a 64w x 128l window in hammer you'd say 32 64 0 for max and -32 -64 0 for min and then you'd place it in the center of the window in hammer, and the particle would fit. You would change the zeros to something like 4 and -4 if you wanted to add depth, maybe not even that much.

But do realize, that you would use position within a sphere and then use position modify offset to make it a box shape. Then you check use local space so that its rotatable. The light beams also use a separate modifier for the lengths.
