Texture Problem.

Postby UrbanWulf on Thu Nov 04, 2010 7:32 am

Okay, I will try and keep this short and sweet. I am a mapper mostly but a while ago I decided to make a small mod for my own use as a test for my abilities. It turned out quite well and I got to a point where I wanted to make some custom skins. So to start off I made a skin of the combine soldier (combinesoldiersheet) with a different camo pattern. I put this in my mod's materials models folder with the correct path assuming it would work whenever I ran the mod, it didn't so I need help figuring out why the skin does'nt show up ingame. So yeah, I need help and it probbly has an incredibly simple answer. To be honest I never thought i'd get this far. :)

Thanks in advance.

EDITED TO MAKE SENSE - No excuse for being stupid. Sorry about that.

I'm failing to see the problem in that post.

You haven't specified the problem in your post so I'm going to assume it's that your power went out. Trying hitting the third red switch from the right. If that fails call your power company.

It's so short and sweet he didn't have time to post the problem.

It makes more sense now. Fake excuse: I was in a rush.

It still doesn't make much sense >_>

Check your directory paths again, that can be the only explanation for it. The VMT and VTF should be placed in the exact folder specified by the VMT file, which will be something like:
materials/models/npcs/combine_s

It must be something to do with the directory as I did a quick edit of a rebel skin and that turned out alright. I'm gonna keep trying. Also: the dumpling title is obviously accurate :/

EDIT: I'm definetly doing something wrong with just the normal soldier skin as I edited the prison guard one and it worked so it's not that i put it in the wrong folder to be picked up by the mod.

How does the post still not make sense? Also, assuming you have some kind problem, the only logical conclusion was that your skin wasn't working before you edited your post.

That aside check if this entry:
Code: Select all
Game            |gameinfo_path|.
in your gameinfo.txt is at the top, if ep2 overrides it, you would be able to edit the prisonguard but not the standard soldier for example.

So wait... The new skin displays properly in Hammer but not in the game?
