Phong on Brushes..it IS possible! :O

Postby Groxkiller585 on Sat Jan 01, 2011 6:27 am

Someone at MaL found that, if used correctly, vertexlitgeneric DOES work on brushes. There's one requirement: The brush has to move in some way, shape, or form. If it is static this won't work.

Basiclly, he made a func_brush (I assume is parented to a physbox) and covered it in vertexlitgeneric textures, and carried it around. The phong and lighting work just like as if it was a model. I tested this to see if he was bluffing; he wasn't.

C17 EP:1 has this on static brushes if I am correct. So yeah its possible through modding and on dynamic objects.

Sounds about right, its the same with the reflect shaders. Normal brush geometry just doesnt store enough lighting data. I believe its the same with per-vertex models and normal mapping.
