'EXCEPTION_ACCESS_VIOLATION' (assert: 1)

Postby shawnolson on Wed Feb 09, 2011 11:18 pm

I came across this error today when updating the Wall Worm Model Tools. I found various threads on the internet talking about this problem. None solved the error I was producing in WWMT.

I did isolate the cause of it in WWMT. Here is what caused it and my solution. I am sure there are other causes... but I thought that some people here should know about it:

'EXCEPTION_ACCESS_VIOLATION' (assert: 1)

This can happen if you set the $masscenter on a model with $collisionjoints. In WWMT, I had to add a check to see if the model is using $collisionmodel or $collisionjoints. If $collisionjoints, do not include $masscenter.

Hopefully this solves some headeaches.

Interlopers should do an mdlcompiler error log aswell as our map errors log.

Agreed.

Although it would be better if Valve would just share all the meanings of everything. That we have to figure out half of everything ourselves is a little frustrating sometimes.
