Wrong collision model

Postby andy4729 on Sat Jul 09, 2011 11:36 am

OK, so I've got my lantern physics model into source and all is working great except the collision model is not where I've told it to be. The following two pictures illustrate this problem:

Model (mostly hidden) and collision model in Maya:

I'm pretty sure I followed all the steps of the exportation process so I'm not really sure what's happening here.

Thanks in advance.

Hi there,

Well I wouldn't say that it's the wrong collision model, but the placement is wrong.

An easy way to fix this is to add 1 bone. And then skin the lamp and the collision model to it. That should fix this :) If you don't know how to do this, tell me. I'll find a tutorial for you or at least make one (but I'm using 3Ds max :/ )

Thanks for the reply. Sadly, I don't know how to do this! Lol, sorry. Any form of tutorial would be great.

Thanks

Just fixed it!

For whatever reason it was fixed by simply moving the center point of the collision model (in maya) from the middle to the bottom. *Shrug*

Thanks though. Might be worth seeing a tutorial anyway for future purposed.

I think collision and ref models must share the same origin point.
