Workflow article: Weapon making for BFHeroes

Postby Oskmos on Tue May 01, 2012 6:08 am

Made a tutorial of sorts at work. Kind of a step by step guide of how I create the texture. Not the model itself. There are some tips and tricks in there. I know I would have loved to read something like this when I was learning modeling/texturing :)

Cheers!

EDIT: the PDF has been updated to a newer and less compressed version, text is the same though :smt023

Nice dude. Gotta give this bro a custom title (assuming you work at EA).

Oh now that is nice. Oddly enough I just picked that game up yesterday, so I can actually reference that.

Always glad to see texture guides, as I am still in need of increasing my skills on working with UVs.

The lighting and shadow layer idea seemed a bit silly at first, but once combined with the ao they certainly make a more polished ao map. And the highlight layer looked horrible but then it translates to the final texture very nicely. It's great to see what other people do, thanks!

Glad you liked it. I'm thinking of doing more of these. Maybe using a screengrabber i can do a timelapse video.
