Texture Packs?

Postby c0ldpr0xy on Wed Jun 20, 2012 8:27 pm

Hello there. It seems like that this is the ONLY active forum dedicated to Valve Hammer Editor.

Anyways, I've been googling a lot but I can't seem to find any good big texture pack. I am tired of the textures that come along with HL2. What happened to the sites where you could download tons of stuff for Hammer (a site called Junkyard or something was awesome)? Like prefabs and pre-made things, etc etc.

If anyone knows a good texture pack, I would be pleased :D. Cheers.

Best thing you could do is make your own my friend.

http://cgtextures.com

Cool thing is, Most of them come tiled! So all you gotta do is create the VTF and VMT's. Its good to know how to make your own. Personally i looked around google for 20 minutes and couldn't find a texture pack for you.

You missed this:

But yeah, it's best to make your own, feels more rewarding and can be a decent skill to have.

Thanks guys for those links.

Do you have any idea why my custom textures are showing with pink and black dots? Yes, I put them in the right directory but they still won't show.

If you are really into mapping I'd suggest getting a CGTextures one year standard subscription. It costs money of course, but it gives you a huge archive to work with. I am investing the 49 Euros (?) per year for the third time already.

Yeah since this falls right in line I will put it up as a reference. This is a texture I got right off of CGtextures and all I did was generate a decent normal map with crazy bump and transfer it into a vtf, with the adjacent vmt.

Really simple stuff, only thing is I wouldn't mind using CGtextures myself for masks on my model unwraps, rather then just picking up textures from CG and just using them whole sale.
