What is this (smoothing group)? I use Softimage XSI and i ehh.. just want to know

Got it, in softimage it called "Mark Hard Edges" i suppose

Yeah in blender it is mark sharp edges, also if you're worried about that corner smoothing wrong, get rid of that superfluous loop right next to it. The closer your vertices/loops are, the tighter the highlight on your smoothing will be. Delete that edge loop and your funny corner thing should disappear.

XSI you use hard edges for everything that is not smooth. Make sure before you export your .smd you Select your model, go to property on top left, and select Geometry Approximation. Turn OFF automatic mode, then export the .smd, otherwise it will mess up the models smoothing and lighting by source.
