Typed this up a while ago, it could use an update but meh.

Also check http://www.sourceblog.org for all your tutorial needs ;)

- Getting the basics down
*Yay for Ben Mathis! (aka poopinmymouth). He made this (simply awesome) bench VIDEO tutorial! This really teaches you basic modelling! Grab it from Fileplanet here

- GUNS:
*ICHII3D's VTM's, using the plane modelling method. This is 1 of the 2 decent ways (imo) to model guns for games. It uses the plane modelling technique. Only drawback might be the hefty download size, but they are worth every damn kb of it!
I based my tut on that method, you can see it here (600*2300 pic, so I linked it) :D
*Poly per poly modelling a P90. It's in german tho, but who doesn't understand German these days with all those WWII shooters? And even if you didn't the pics are good enough. This is another (good imo) way to model guns, but I think the former method is better.

- Character Modelling
*Again, we stop by our friendly neighbour-character modeller/texturer Ben Mathis!. Go here and scroll down to the character modelling video. The demon human one, you see a pic of a green guy with 9(!) links to VTM's, all of them hosted on fileplanet. he covers pretty much everything from modelling to uvmapping over to rigging and texturing! Good stuff, although I don't like that method for modelling characters (but that is merely a personal thing)
*There is more! There's this awesome tutorial site on the net much people often forget about! (or even worse: have never heard from it!) 3D TOTAL!!!!This place is just packed with great tutorials!!!!! Let's get it cracking:
The infamous Joan of Arc tutorial Although getting outdated, it does teach you basic methods of character modelling. Even if you don't follow it, read through it. The original was written in french, this is the English translated version. Get the french one if you want to work on your french a bit ;)
*Making a player model for UT I honestly must admit I have only skimmed through it, but it seemed really good! I will read the entire thing if I have the time!
*Other good tutorials to follow (or just read) from 3D total:
-Modelling Sadmike (boxmodelling)
-Modelling a stylised head (boxmodelling)
-Modelling a Fiat500 (sort of edgemodelling)

Interlopers is primarily a mapping community. Most, if not all of the tutorials here are about mapping for Valve's Source engine. This thread for links to modeling tutorials are for us that have progressed into modeling. I like this thread and the special forum it resides in.
