Natural selection source.

Incase you didnt read the original post at http://www.planethalflife.com here is what unknown worlds as to say on the matter

There's so much confusion and misinformation floating around about all these projects that I think it's time to set the record straight.

First there was Natural Selection. Then I formed Unknown Worlds to make more ambitious retail games. I thought that the best bet for the company's first game was putting NS into retail, on the Half-life engine. This would be like Counter-strike or Day of Defeat in retail, and would've essentially been the same game, but polished up and packaged with the Half-life engine so people could play it without owning Half-life. I then decided that it would be too costly and a little boring too do this project, so it was skipped.

So the next project is likely going to be NS on the Source engine. We don't know for sure if we're doing this, as we haven't had time to evaluate how much work it will be, but everyone on the team is excited to do it, so I think it will happen. We don't know yet if it is going to be a straight port over to Source, or if we're going to redo a lot of the artwork/animations, or if we're going to change a lot of the fundamental gameplay (flamethrowers, physics, etc.). We need to look into it more, see how many months it's going to take (the bad part) and then make a decision. As soon as we know, we'll let you guys know. NS on Source will be done primarily by the current NS team. I'll be doing the game design and overall direction, but the NS team will be doing all the actual work.

The OTHER project, is Natural Selection 2. The game design has been started (hoo-boy, fun stuff), but this will be a full-fledged $50 (or so) retail game, not a mod. It will use a next-generation engine (like Source, Unreal Engine 3, etc.) and will take years and millions of dollars to create. This is what I'm now spending the majority of my time on.

I am a massive fan of the original i still play it now. It has everything you could want. RTS gameplay with realy people as you unit. Atmospheric environments. Some seriously good looking maps (considering its engine) and very involving game play.

Personaly i would like to see an extension onto the seris rather then a remake. new aliens new weapons new maps and slightly tweaked game play. I have heard a few ideas from people about bigout door maps but i feel that goes against the essence of natural selection. Anyway whats everyones thoughts?

I used to play it everyday but have gone off it thanks to the retard gamers and lack of updates. Hopefully things will change.

I stopped playing because everyone wanted to be the commander. Its gay when you set up a server and got some jack ass hogging the chair, then for some reason you can't boot him and somehow you are kicked off your own game. Don't ask how it happened all I know is that people are jackasses.

Well, gotta go flame some more noobs. :D

P.S. You must pay me Athlete if you want to use my name in your sig.

NS hitboxes are pretty nasty too. The commander thing isn't too much much of a problem now i feel. N00bs can com but if they do something like drop a tf first then they get booted out the chair. On g4b2s at least we get a good cycle of commanders.

i think that if ns doesn't change to source, it won't go nay further.. but since they are thinking of changing it, i hope the new version beats cs and all other source mods ^^

Hmmm.

Anyway, since I was a kid I thought it would be cool that in FPS such as Delta Force, you could have a REAL commander that has an RTS view of what's up.
Naturally, I think that NS has a lot of room for improvement. I think they need to scale up the numbers in the next version, and to make bigger maps. Orders should be delivered with checkpoints and stuff like that.
I always thought it should be like StarCraft plus Delta Force, or something like that (could be nice :D)
