Half Life 2 High Definition

Postby OWNER on Tue May 15, 2007 10:20 pm

I am making a mod for HL2 that makes most of the textures in the game high res, phong (and phong from flashlight too), and HDR. I could use help but I am seeing what the community thinks. I have some screens here, and don't mind the fakfactory textures, they are placeholders. And why do I do this you say, HDR has never been done for HL2, all skins and models in fakefactory just don't look the same. This is the same textures, just better. So here are the screens. tell me what you think. If you are interested for a skinning job, contact me via ncw132@hotmail.com.

YES! That is what daddy wants!

To be honest, it looks kick ass. The gravgun looks too smooth, tho. Make its bumps much deeper and sharper.

Otherwise, keep it up!
I call it DMV. Call it pointless~~

Thank you very much, and as I said I need a very good skinner experienced with High resolution skins big time. I will get those bumpmaps better, that is the aim of this mod.

Use ep2 dlls from the benchmark if you're not going to edit the code at all.

Then you get dynamic shadows and reactive zombies.

That's not doable nor recommended for so many reasons.

New engine build? Unstable regular build? I was just pulling that one out of my arse anyway.

I know, it is a nice little shader someone allowed me to use, lets your flashlight cast phong. Anyone experienced in normal mapping?

well, normal mapping isnt something big, you can make normal maps with the nvidia normal map plugin for photoshop. If you need someone to make the normal maps, i guess i could do that

you can also get the same normal map shader for GIMP if photoshop is beyond your budget. just google for it.

it IS possible to mod for source for free AND legally!

I don't know if you need this, but if you want to do it yourself (or if anyone else does) I think this is the best tutorial out there for normal mapping and the tools you will need etc.

We have a new normal mapper, and from what you see in this pic, does a nice job. Here is the grav gun updated. Suggestions?

Why is the grav gun white? That looks unrealistic to me. However, everything else looks great!
Also, what kind of rig are we going to need to run this mod?
