There should be a level with huge contrasts, like;
One area which is detailed, nice textures... etc, and then the next area will be completly opposite. huge oversized doors, off-grid brushes.

Actually it would be really freaking cool to have that transition gradual. So as you are walk things start really looking messed up.

I remember hearing a story about Carters Liver Pills in the Chicage World fair. Appaerntly they built a tunnle which a person walked through and had different images on the walls. In the begining they had all happy images that made people feel good, as you walked farther into the tunnle the images became less and less upbeat until finally they started making people feel bad. At that point they game them a Carters Liver pill and sent them on the tail end of the tunnle. The images started becoming more and more happy again and people started feeling better. So basically Carters Liver Pills did nothing but people thought they where the greatest thing...

So year long story short, (too late) a gradual transition from clean design to "F"ed up noob HL1 graphics would be really cool...
