BetaTestersCollective.Com Now Online

Postby planetphillip on Fri Oct 15, 2010 4:47 pm

I am pleased to announce that the Beta Testers Collective now has its own domain and website. I am slightly embarrassed to say that the design is a copy of the PP one, but promise to give it its own design eventually.

If you don't know, here is our statement:
The Beta Testers Collective is a group of players and modders who believe that beta testing should be taken seriously and done systematically.

We believe in communicating feedback in clear and concise language, sometimes supported by images, Source demos and videos.

This website is a place for modders to find suitable and trustworthy testers.

We are no longer accepting applications for testers BUT we are looking for mods to help test.

So, if you have a single player Source mod that needs testing please consider us.

Please check out the site now!

Very nice idea. The only issue I see is that you need to build up trust as a site within the community first, I can see some mods not trusting your testers even if they trust you.

nice stuff phillip, this could be very useful for the community! I'd like a little more clarification on the quality of the testers though... maybe modders can rate the testers they use so that over time we get a more comprehensive and trustworthy database of testers?

Yes, I see your point and I hope that my vouching for all the testers will go some way toward that. But you are right, we will need to build my the trust.

I am hoping that mods "test" us with some of their scrapped work, just to see how useful we can be.

Thank you. The idea of rating tests is a really good idea. There should never be an issue of trust, and if there is I will have no hesitation in removing that particular tester.

I'll think about how best to implement the rating idea - thanks.

This looks pretty fantastic. Finding good testers has always been a problem.

I remember getting an invite to the Steam Group, sadly had to remove myself though. My internet connection makes me a worthless beta tester as I can't even download >100MB files or play online.

I honestly like the idea, but I do agree with Mess, it is a good idea to be able to rate testers, but not only for trustworthiness, but also for feedback, availability and reliability.
