Mist of Stagnation - Modeler needed

Mist of Stagnation is a Source (2007 Engine) modification that is Steam punk themed in art style, has a fast paced action game play similar to TF2, with other game play changes that should be a unique experience.

Right now I am looking to add 1-2 weapons modelers. We have some very high quality concept art ready to be given life. To start off we will only be making 4 weapons. We do this for a couple reasons, but mostly to have realistic goals, and get something out as soon as possible.

3D concept models are available for reference also.

There are currently 3 game modes: Control Point (a CTFish type game play), Attack/Defend (hold your ground game play), and Team Death match

I have the design documents for game play on the Moddb page for the mod http://www.moddb.com/mods/mist-of-stagnation, which should answer most questions regarding the game design.

The art direction of the mod is that of realism. Now obviously Steam punk is not a realism mod, but it will not be cartoonish. Real world type locations, with a rundown feeling. There is a deeper back story that will support the single player side of the mod (to be developed later), that will support the reasons for the destructive look of the world. Not a post-apoc look, but rather an unmaintained look.

About the Team:

MoS is currently comprised of a coder, 3 mappers, 2 concept artist, a character modeler, a musician, and a couple other contributors (graphics and web support).

We have been working together for just over 4 months and all have a great passion for seeing this mod to final release. We have 4 levels in the works, a custom fgd, and a working alpha.

To anyone who is interested, please send a pm or reply in this thread with examples of work. I do need someone who has experience with weapons modeling for Source, and all that that entails, including:
V and W models, rigging/animation, and compiling for source.

:? Holy Shit! Those gun designs are beautiful! Are they based on real guns? (BTW I don't know how to model I just had to commend you on those designs)

This interests me, do you need to be able to texture you're own weapon or just create the model?

Some of my recent work - http://www.scotchandcoffee.co.uk/forum/ ... f=12&t=191

I'm also a very capable source mapper incase you need one in the future.

I would prefer that you be able to texture it as well, but it is not manditory. The primary functions needed are the modeling and animating.

I loved Wetwork btw. Head on over to my forums and we can talk more, or add me on steam: donkeypunch420

I assume you have a method in mind to maximize space efficiency by not making each upgraded gun a separate model, but the upgrades as toggleable layers in the model or entirely different files referenced to appear at attachment points on the standard gun. After all, why have the same mesh several times as separate models?

From a design point of view, I think your guns look pretty good. Just two things about the pistol: the hammer assembly looks strange, I can't quite picture how it's supposed to look from any other angle; and the heat shield is unnecessary, because a revolver would be strained to reach a firing rate high enough to warrant a heat shield, especially considering the heavy barrel. And it looks kinda funny. As for the shotgun, it looks just fine. I like the Winchester look.

You seem to have a creeper lever on your pistol, yet it leads into the receiver.

Notice how the guns lever leads into the bottom most chamber. This was used in the civil war when you loaded your rounds and powder separately.

I could be mistaken and the purpose is some sort of steam-punk-ish... idk hand pump or something.

Thanks for the input guys. To clear some things up:

The top piece is not a heat sheild, but the mount for the add-ons for the weapons. On that note, we will just be using a bone attachment point for addons, instead of a seperate model.

The bar on the bottom is the lock for the wheel, similar in functionality to the old break-away pistols, but just locks the ammo wheel in place. (Although the artist did not show it in the down posistion in the following picture)

Here is another angle of the revolver to clear up any questions on the hammer.

The shotgun itself will need to be 2 seperate models, since one of its upgrades is the drum system, as seen here
The drum system is above

If it helps, I believe the body-group system also works on weapons. So it could all be one model.
Have a question related to modding or something I posted? Something that needs staff attention? I haven't been active lately, but feel free to PM me or message me on Steam(link below)
