Looking for 3D and 2D artists.

Postby Phaaze on Sat Dec 11, 2010 5:06 am

Hi, I've recently starting working on a HL2: Ep2 mod, set in San Francisco 1937. As you probably saw in the title, I'm looking for modelers and texturers/skinners.

The modeler will need to be able to create late 1930s style props, cars, and characters. (replacing all default citizens) I will also need animated props, such as waving flags, and water fountains.

The 2D stuff will mostly consist of skinning, as most of HL2's default textures are fine.

Please, if you are interested in helping in ANY way, please post or send me a PM. Thanks for reading! :P

First, what is the mod about, second post media. If you are just a 'Story' guy and you're the leader it's not going to work, you have to actually contribute something to the mod. Because any idiot can write a story. Also, there is a difference between a Modeler and a Character Modeler. It takes a lot of time and effort to model, rig, and animate a character model. You should post reference pictures to show exactly what the models should look like, no one is going to know what 1930s 'props' are, or cars, or even what people wore in the 1930s. You have to add more details and show actual media.

Id happily help, but I refrain to do so before I know the work is worth it. I am a busy young man (fucking school) and yeah...

do you have concepts? do you have concept artists? what armageddon said

I am fully prepared to do all the mapping, storytelling, and possibly a bit of coding.

Sorry for all the pics.

Interesting. I never knew the ladies in the 1930s had such long legs.

Anyway, people are way more likely to help out if they can see that you can produce some content as well. From what I can tell you woke up this morning with this idea and was like "Hey I can't do all this stuff. Better find people to do it for me."

As I said, I am doing all the mapping. However, I do not have any fully completed maps yet. And I doubt you guys want to see fullbright maps with half finished buildings and complete lack of detail.

Well man. Maybe then it´s not the suitable moment of asking for help. If i were you, would keep working on your expertises until you have finally something interesting to show. Then, recluting new members for your mod should be easier.

In the meantime you can make simple placeholders (either using Propper, existing models or brushwork) in your maps to later fill with the props and materials you´re eager to have.

Also, there was sometime ago one guy showing screenshots of a map that pretty much looked like what you want to do. There was a hotel and a few old cars around, with a trolley and a cobbles street. Search for it, maybe you can join his mod or ask for a few props borrowed.
