Looking for simple 3rd person mod that I can build on!

Postby Ashfall_2008 on Mon Feb 14, 2011 11:02 pm

Hi

I'm looking to find a simple 3rd person mod for half-life2 that provides a console command to switch between 1st and 3rd person view and allows me to change the player model. I've looked at SMOD but don't like the fact that you have to have Lost Coast and DM installed to run it.

Did anyone create a simple mod that simply adds some CVAR'S that allow you to control the perspective and insert a player model that runs the appropriate animations on player input.

Oh and in case you will suggest it I've seen the entity solution on youtube. No thank you! Tried to make it work and it's clunky as hell.

Thanks for any help you can provide.

There is some third person code on the VDC, I'm pretty sure it can be toggled through CVars.

As for the thirdperson model, you would likely have to rip some code out of MP/DM as that is the only place I would know to look.

I used the default Valve third-person view console command, and disabled mouse´s vertical movement, in Flesh. Seems to do the trick, altho people said it was a bit clunky.

Can I ask how you got a player model in the game that played all the correct animations?

That's the tricky bit. The camera control I think I can handle :)
