Searching people for modding studio

Postby projacol on Tue Jan 17, 2012 5:03 pm

Hi, im currently searching for people to make modding studio. We offer working in modding team, with friendly atmosphere, solid team, high quality of work, 100% non-commercial job. We are looking for guys that have modding as hobby, and want to work with other people to create mods. It all goes fun, we don't want to earn money or something. Currently we have: 2 Mappers, 1 Coder, 1 Music Composer/Sound Artist and looking for nice and solid team.

Once again, we don't search for people that will do their work and go away, we are making things for community, it's our hobby. You will ask why you should join us - many people like coders, mappers or other artists want to work in solid and friendly team to make awesome games (mods). We are offering that.

Wanted:

- Coder(s)/Programmer(s)
- Mapper(s) - creating maps (multiplayer, singleplayer or both)
- Weapon modeller(s) - creating weapon view and world models
- Model animator(s) - animating view models
- Graphic artist(s) - artworks, textures and things like that
- Sound artist(s) - creating music, sound engineer
- Voice actors - voice acting, accent doesn't matter, just understandable english

and any other help!

If you are intrested, talk to me at PM or write at projacol@gmail.com

I would like to see some media, whether that's screenshots, ideas, plans, etc. Also I would like to know your role within the team.

Deflective answers aren't going to get you anywhere either, please bring solid information to the table.

We want to make solid team, not just for one mod but modding in future. Currently our mod is gonna be tdm/dm modification, with ironsighting, hitmarkers, money system (with buy menu), experience system, first person ragdolls, camera bob and many more little features. We are gonna add some sexy shaders to make it better looking, most likely sun rays and kinda lens flare effect. We don't have any media yet from current new build, it's still in development. I will show something if we will have serious thing done to show. By the way, it's not easy to start mod and make something that will make people want to join it us if we have mapper, coder and sound artist now. We are making it all for fun, no time pressure but possibly we will can realase first screenshots in early feb.

Usually when starting these big projects you either work under the radar until you have media and a significant amount of progress done or you present a design document. It all depends on if you are in need of more people to work in the project, as it looks now you have a decently sized team. The bigger the team gets the harder it's going to be to work on the project, because organizing a bunch of people all over the world with different time zones and schedules will be tough.

So... You are looking for people in ALL fields? That is a ton of people! It doesn't sound like you are creating a modding team, it sounds like you are making a full fledged community. Sure, modding is hard and takes time but a bigger team could cause more problems.

projacol, when looking for people, for whatever kind of job, it's always very important to lure people into by showing something you're working on. You want them to grasp the high quality of work you guys are working on. Since that's missing right now, no-one is tempted to be interested. Anyone can say he's looking for a team of people to work on something, but mostly those are the kind of mods that, sadly to say, die out quite easily.

So before you start looking for people, get some media done, get stuff to show us so we want to have your babbies because of the excellence of the portrayed work. Good luck sir!

You sure got a lot of features planned without a programmer. I'm fairly certain putting "Source" in the name of your mod got old 5 years ago ;)
