The 1960's were a decade of new studies in psychology. Experimenting with new techniques that would one day age the lobotomy surgery's. A disclosed psychiatric hospital for the criminally insane, a patient, and the locations history would be changed forever...


Let me begin with my name. I am Mackenzie Shirk, the leader of Session 9. Session 9 is a horror modification on the Source engine. The story of the mod is still under development, but the mod is based on 10 sessions of recollection that the protagonist proceeds through in chronological order. Each session can be thought of as a "Dream". The protagonist suffers from hallucinations in each session, and as he progresses he learns more about his current state of mind.

The environment encountered ranges from a small rural village, to a hospital for the criminally insane. Abandoned, old, dusty and deadly is what fills the atmosphere.

The current positions we are searching for are the following;

Level Designer

Environmental Artist

Texture Artist (Prop and or Level)

Concept Artist (Levels, Characters, ect.)

Programmer

Story Writer

I'm also part of the team if this counts for credibility of the mod. I feel like its rather cool, But Shirk also is looking for some one who can write stories/ timelines since we aren't the best at it.

I would like more media. But the mapping you have shown so far seems fairly good. Did you map those?


I'm always liking non-HL2 mods, this looks like it has potential. I wish you luck and of course, if you have any problems, you can create a topic here.

Unfortunately without a full team I am unable to produce much. In time I would like to add more media. I am the only mapper at this point.

I understand. It's nice to hear the leader can also map.

What is the actual gameplay though? Is there some sort of puzzle solving or is it mainly exploration?


@Janga, what are you doing for the mod man? Particles? Mapping? Both? Just wondering.

The gameplay is mainly puzzles with some exploration and combat. Combat is more focused on melee, very few firearms will be included with a wide variety of melee weapons. Ammunition is extremely scarce and firearms are the same. Solving different puzzles lead to more information, and more information leads to an alternate ending

While Level Designer, Writer and Environment Artist are all tempting, but my time is currently taken up with my own modification.

I would love to get my hands on that indoor stairwell map though. The lighting is fantastically well done and I'd like to know how it was achieved.

The mod is based in the universe of the movie Session 9, aside from that they have different stories.

i can spot some dm_stad in one of those screens :D

Just make sure you credit if you are planning on using those assets in your final mod

Those are actually quite old screens, things are being replaced.
