I don't think the Vorts like G-Man at all. True, injecting Gordon did help their cause. But I think the Vorts know more about the G-Man than we will ever know. I believe the only reason the Vorts haven't tried to hurt G-Man, is because they can't. And I don't think G-Man is allowed to hurt the Vorts(as we know, he answers to a higher power).
Come to think of it the G-Man supplied the materials that made the resonance cascade failure at black mesa possible, which lead to Freeman's eventual defeat of the big giant head (I forget the name) at the end of HL1, which freed the Vorts from slavery. I wonder if the Vorts realise they owe the freedom of their entire species to the minimalist interventions of the G-Man...
I'm not sure the player should get too involved in whatever higher order of reality the G-Man is fronting for. We just don't have the vortal nodes to comprehend it.
