the 5-o'clock mustache doesnt meet up with the 5-o'clock goatee. the tops of the goatee must be closer to the corners of the lips...or simply un-darkened. it looks particularly wierd in pictures 1 and 4.

It does, it's just there's not as much hair between the mustache and goatee edges, like on the original.
EDIT: Oh, wait, you're talking about the 'chin shading'- ah, well, I did that to please the folks on FP.

I'm with the 'wasted energy' crowd on this one. You're pretty good at organic texturing so why are you putting all this effort to re-texture a game that everyone has already played? Working on a new mod means that you have a far higher chance of a large amount of people playing it. Retexturing HL2 may make it look pretty, but people will tire quickly since it is still the same game.

All negativity aside, it does look good. I hope you find your way into some exiting mods after you're done floundering on this one.

We're changing the gameplay up a bit, nothing major though, that way it's not the exact same gameplay. We're getting a lot of new models too, high poly character models, and the major enemies. Also I see this as a sort of starting point for modding (this is not my first mod project though), as making a whole new story is going to be harder, so why not start out with something easier first? Another reason is that I'm very unsatisfied with Cinematic mod, and I would like to give people a true enhanced HL2 to play.

Yep.
Also hopefully make some G-mod packs of the models and skins for people to use.

Looks nice, although I had nothing against how he looked before as I know a bunch of other peeps did. Still looking good though, I guess if the eyes stood out to much they seem a bit more subtle now but either way seems alright to me.
