community mod?

Just make it seem like it's really artsy (and very cube like) and then when people don't like it just tell them they aren't modern and in tune with art.

We should just make the most completely backwards mod possible. Tell everyone that likes it that they can go give someone else's mod support instead of wasting their time with "OwN3D!?" etc :D

Anyways, if we're into making a mod (which could be nice) we need more than just what you've said.
What about the mod director? And story director?
A mod isn't just a bunch of maps coming together. It's gotta be organized. We need somebody to call the shots, or we'll do what we want each, and that'll suck overall.
And don't underestimate yourself saying "the real mappers are busy".
Even the greatest mappers learn new things every now and then. There's always more to learn. Even the creators of Photoshop can't use their tools in every possible way and combination, and they learn stuff daily.
Visualize what you want to achieve, and if you can't get there on your own, there's the help forum. But don't disrespect yourself... We can all do this, together

why does a mod have to be organised?
of course we need one coder who can bring stuff together, but just making a fun community mod, it would be interesting to see what each member brings to the party. I'm sure if we just got a couple people to start work on some models/maps whatnot and gave this thread a little direction so we know what kind of genre this mod would be im sure some thing could happen.

That's a good idea, we ARE the best hl2mapping community there is, if we can't do it, nobody can. (no not even valve)

ive made a pretty sweet test map where a strider and two crates with combine in them get airlifted in by a dropship

hl2wolrd, well i don't know if its a community mod or what, but they have some dooples mod i think its called. Something like that wouldn't be hard for a community to make. Someone just think of a genre and see if its popular.

nah the hl2world community mod is jbmod, half the staff there are working on the next version
