Video's been up for two days and it already has nearly 200,000 hits.

Would have been awesome if Valve bought them up before it even released and contributed to the voice acting to keep it solid.

From the sound of the characters, the voice acting seems solid, however. That REALLY sounded like Kleiner during the test chamber bit, although I think he might have said that same line in HL2 during the teleporter scene.

Well, as much as I love the remake, I won't buy it if it goes commercial. :\

While most of HL2 fanboiz (like me, although I'm an exception in this case) would gladly accept the idea of VALVe buying it out and selling it, I am pretty sure quite a few people would be pissed off.

Tons of people were pissed when they knew they had to buy CSS. (not me; I have it) Now CSS isn't needed but the game itself is commercial. More pissed people.

On the other hand, it all depends on the price. If it'll cost 5 bucks (and I don't think it will, if ever it comes to that) maybe I'd get it. And 2 years later, since I ain't got a credit card (I don't think they'll go retail). but if it's gonna go for 30+ bucks I'll just play HL1.

Unleash the flames of hell.

I can't believe you lot are even discussing the price thing. They've said several times they won't charge for it.

To be honest it'd be a bit embarrassing if Valve bought it, they had their chance with HL:Source, but all they did was add some water shaders.

Yeah like it's been said, Valve would do a lot better to show massive support for the mod rather than any financial involvement, embarrassing is the right word for if they bought it.

If there's a modest plea for donations on the site I haven't seen it, but I have no problem rewarding these guys with one

Think if even half of those 200,000 video hits donated a measly 5 spot, they could license the engine for a commercial release the next time around

I'm fairly sure they decided somewhere that they weren't going to do donations?

Well it's been some time since I posted here (Christmas 2006 with cs_xmas iirc).

We constantly hear the how much is it line, and whatnot. It's never going to be sold, it will always be free. I doubt Valve will want to buy something that is their own IP and then sell it, just as none of us would want to sit through boring court over making money from anothers IP. The donations thing is also off, due to legal grey areas, as donations may be seen as a stealthy way of profiting from the game, most likely also ending up in court.

In short, I wear my suit for work, not court :P

Also, the G-Man voice is not that of Mike Shapiro, it was recorded by our own very talented Kevin "Debeerguy" Sisk.

I'll be writing a devblog on the mountain vista scene soon, and other bits I have contributed to.

Indeed it is, hopefully it's sometime near the beginning of January, yet I can only imagine how long it would take to fill almost 40 hours of gameplay with what they've accomplished now.
