L4D Patch This Week

A fan over at the Steam forums received an email from Chet Faliszek revealing that we may be seeing a bug fix patch for L4D this week:

Sadly Microsoft has nothing to do with the pc patch... that delay is all us. The PC and 360 will be patched independently not sure where people picked up that exploit/bug fixing was tied together. Only the DLC will be simultaneous. The problem on the PC side was a few large bugs affected other systems that we were going to rewrite on the pc so we ended up waiting to fix a whole class of bugs instead of just individual bugs. The patch should be out this week.


Sounds like the dozens of exploits will be tied up once and for all. You can see the full thread on the Steam forums.

The exploits were so fun though, nothing's better than making someone fall through the elevator using a grenade.

yeah, nothing like alerting the witch as a hunter by jumping on her, then having her kill you, then run after the nearest survivor.

or trying to jump over the witch, and getting stuck in the air.

She will die. You just have to throw a molotov down there, too :-D A tank fell into the elevator shaft, too.

They really have to fix the exploits in Dead Air, you can almost exploit through the entire campaign. And it is really time for new stuff, you grow tired of some of the scenes slowly ... I mean, some parts are still fun - like the terminal part in Dead Air or the hospital part in No Mercy, but the subway in No Mercy is really ... overplayed :-D

Forget this. Bring on the SDK and a "proper" function to load custom maps on servers.

I've emailed Doug twice about possible SDK news, regarding release date and/or information about what we can expect.

Both times I've been ignored. Not sure I understand why they can't communicate more. It's not hard.

Is it possible there wont be one and they feel guilty because people have started working on projects so they just dont say anything...Last I heard they were working on tutorials for newbs - experts that ships with the SDK.

Not sure about how concerned the L4D team (turtle rock) are about supporting the community. Over at tf2maps.net one of the TF2 level designers approached them, to answer a bevvy of questions, and gave really good answers.

Thank god. Now that douche bag that plays with my friend in L4D can't interrupt our game by using double melee and spawning 100s of hunters. I hope he's crying over this patch...that ass hole.
