Plus the last update / interview I read stated they were working on tutorials from "newbs-experts".

I tried the update today and it is a lot better. The VS is harder for survivors though :( Especially now that the smoker drag actually hurts like every 1 second.

That's not quite right, on release week chet falisek (spelling?) said that they were working on an SDK and that they'd have info on it within the week.

(Insert obligatory "valve time" comment here.)

They just have to release the SDK ... the game has not enough content to survive on itself. I think the developers knew that from the start and gamble the community will add content!

I'm not going to play a custom campaign. Probably for exacty the same reason I don't have sprays turned on/custom models. It just detracts from the thing, for me :(

I think, in essence, custom is just not Valve.

Uh you can't compare a custom model or spray, which changes the game, to a custom campaign, which enhances the game. I won't play L4D for another few months with no new content.

I only play Versus now, which got even better now. The coop is really getting rather boring, even Expert is not so hard anymore, because even with the AI director, you just know what to do ....

don't be so pesimistic, once the sdk rolls out this game will be awesome. Versus is truely dynamic, but they really could add some more game mode options. I would like to play an entire session as infected.

yeah, I still play the shit out of the game.

The levels don't make the game fun/interesting, the players do.

But what makes the game boring is if everyone's just running around doing their own thing (which always means getting owned by a team with even a little bit of teamplay) And people don't really seem willing to learn, I've noticed that random players always fall for the same tricks, get confused easily, and cannot figure out why they're not having any fun. And I'm not saying that if you're not good at the game then you don't like it, I'm saying that if nobody is paying attention or playing well, then the game is just going to be boring. Hunters are just going to be flying in from random directions, smokers are just pulling people blindly from every directions, boomers will just vomit on people, and somebody is going to end up dying just because their 3 teammates were too busy meleeing some hunter while some smoker right in the middle of the path pulls you away. And that's stupid, when playing scrimmages with other teams, the whole match is edge of your seat, and nothing seems random.

This game would be perfect if they would just add something to deal with ragequitters, like maybe a "ragequit rating" and when someone ragequits you can vote them down or some shit, and they will get lobbied together or something.

But I guess that's why I don't play on public servers anymore, it's annoying having to play with 4 full rotations of opponents because every team quits after you destroy them. If you want to have fun, you have to play with people who're attentive and organized, and play against people who are attentive and organized.

Moral of the story. Stop playing pubs with random retards, and find some people that will keep the game interesting.

It's a shame that you have to play "competitively" to have any fun though.

That would be awesome. Let's have some sort of ranking system that makes people really compete with eachother. Something like a stat system logging total hours played, how many times you've revived teammates, friendly fire incidents, etc. and work on grouping players with similar stats together.
