Dystopia 1.2 Released

Postby ad_hominem on Sat Feb 14, 2009 11:38 pm

Dystopia 1.2 has been released on steam and to celebrate they have released an official 1.2 trailer clocking in at almost five minutes created by level designer and artist twincannon.

To install Dystopia you need to either click this link or find the mod by visiting the steam store page and clicking game mods and there under free stuff you will find a link to install Dystopia.

You can also find at their website links to a new player guide and a huge 32 minute long megamix of Dystopia music by artist bioxeed.

I played this a few days ago and I still play from time to time. Lovely game, excellent level design and fun character types. I love how you get to choose class, weapon and implants.

Meh, source mods feel laggy for me. Hopefully next half life engine will make it easier for people to make smoother games. :?

Laggy? I've never experienced any lag at all.

Every time I fire a gun on ES it like stops the game. The ships rock back and foward for me also. Dystopia is the smoothest, but I still feel a slowdown whenever I spawn. Probably due to the blur though. I just feel that half life mods were smoother than half life 2 mods, and half life 2 valve mods are smoother than the community mods. Am I the only one who gets this feeling? Could just be a graphics card issue, or valve just doing a better job hitting all of the computer demographics. (low end vs high end computers)

I've never experienced something like that, it's really smooth for me.

I definitely know what you're talking about, but I'm going to have to say it varies. Widely. And hoping for the next engine to fix that is a huge, huge hope.

I'm tempted to give this a go. I played this when they only released the first map and was so turned off I haven't been back. Partly it's not my type of gameplay (feels too much like UT for my tastes), partly it was just too early.

I can relate to that.

I tried it out at the first public release and it literally sucked, wasn't my taste. Now I've tried it out once again because I was curious and I don't really think it's like UT.

I played Dystopia when it was first released with the one map and I absolutely loved it. It was so much fun with huge packed games. As time went on, I stopped playing, for reasons I forget. Dystopia's second release with new maps, I played it and didn't like it as much. It didnt have the same feel as the original. I havent played it since, but I may give this a go just to see how it is.
