A new website by the name of Gaming-models.de has just been opened, giving access to gaming models to anyone who needs them, completely for free. It's a great idea as it's creator, Kloetengott, explains:

Gaming-models.de is a platform specially designed for the needs of game-developers and mappers. Here you can upload your self-made models and textures, and let them be rated and downloaded by other members. Of course you can also simply visit the platform, and search for models and textures for your own project.

I hope they perform a massive sweep of all the existing model repositories out there and gather 'em all up, thereby making themselves the de facto standard for model hosting. Unless they scour the internets and gather what's currently out there, it's going to be a long time before they're not "just another model site"
