More community maps? :C Valve doesn't seem to realise we already have these and they aren't really showing us anything new. I wanted to learn about the new gun today, gamemode monday, and meet the team video on tuesday along with release.

I have nothing against heyo or community maps, but good lord if they didn't have enough already. I mean, TWO maps from the same author? And from what I hear, both have more than their fair share of imbalances. I can't help but shake the feeling that this is rather sloppy on Valve's part. I sure hope that double payload map/gamemode is good. So far all of the maps revealed have been less than awe inspiring.

Some of the more interesting/revealing achievements:

A Year to Remember: Get 2004 lifetime kills.
Artful Dodger: Dodge 1000 damage in a single life using your Bonk! Atomic Punch.
Out of the Park: Bat an enemy 25 meters.
Beanball: Stun a scout with their own ball.
Race for the Pennant: Run 25 kilometers.
Retire the Runner: Kill a Scout while they are snared by the post-dodge slowdown effect.
Caught Napping: Kill 50 enemies from behind with the Force-A-Nature.
Fall Classic: Cause an environmental death or suicide using the Force-A-Nature's knockback.
The Cycle: In a single life, kill an enemy while you are on the ground, in the air, and in the water.

Well they aren't adding the maps to show something new, they are trying to spread the community maps to the players who haven't played them or seen them yet. It's to try and spread the good maps around more than relying on a server to have the map in it's cycle.

2004 was when the Red Sox won their last World Series Championship.

It's a FREE update, and I'm perfectly fine with this. So it seems it's just you. :S

you realize there are people that play tf2 and aren't part of mapping communities right? why have such a stick up your ass. this is a cool way for some mappers to get big time recognition for their work, and YOUR COMPLAINING?

jebus christ the update will be out on Tuesday, is it that big of a deal that you don't get the update news yo8u want now seeing as its been months with nothing?

The Force-A-Nature...
new scout scatter gun.

has a knockback, so I'm thinking you could use it as a replacement "double jump" if you're using the sandman.

To be honest, i am in agreement about the community maps. Especially now that two of the six updates are community maps. Plus arena_watchtower really isn't that great from either an aesthethic or gameplay angle.

Makes me more certain that there will not be a new 'meet the' vid, instead will be the force-a-nature and the new map/payload variant.

People on interlopers are just complaining that THEY aren't the ones getting their maps added to the community map updates. :? I mean, Valve has done this a lot with games such as counterstrike where community maps would sometimes be added to the map cycle.

I love the community map updates the most: it means I will be seeing those maps more often. I enjoyed playing all 3 of the maps they have announced.

There's nothing wrong with adding community maps, I'm all for it, I'd just rather see the unlocks and the interesting stuff before the weekend and have the pack by now. (Assuming they're just postponing the pack for the sake of showing us more stuff) They can add all the community maps they want at any time, but in a major character pack it's not even remotely interesting in comparison to the rest of it.

Agreed. I was dissapointed when todays update was strictly maps.
And half the update was an update to fastlane! WTF!!

However, I do agree that this is a nice way to spread quality maps around to those that wouldn't otherwise enjoy them. As a mapper, I appreciate this.

BONK

If that's possible, then if you don't use the Sandman and has the Scatter gun, you might be able to get to places where you're not supposed to get. That could be a problem for some of the maps out there. But a new awesome way to play.

I'm fine with community maps getting some recognition. I think it's best to save the best parts to the end.

Again, for you that may be. Besides, it's a PR move to add a bit of suspension in the update. Don't expect them to announce it all at once.

If you don't like it, then just look at all the stuff day before the pack, but it won't change much.
