CURSE named as 'Best Upcoming Mod'

Somehow having managed to stay under my radar thus far, the source mod CURSE has been named Best Upcoming Mod in the Editors Choice awards by ModDB. To celebrate they've released a new teaser trailer and some details about more enemied to feature in the game.

I'm excited to say that Curse won the Best Upcoming Mod Editors Choice category of the 2008 Mod of the Year Awards. I'd like to THANK YOU ALL who helped/supported the mod!

I was totally expecting Petrograd.

To be honest, I haven't agreed with any of their choices thus far (and if they don't choose Zeno Clash for Best Upcoming Indie, there'll be hell to pay), even out of the available nominations. Hopefully the public-voted awards will be more satisfying.

Still, it was a source mod which I hadn't heard of and had won a pretty big (for the mod scene) award, so I thought it worthy of news.

It doesn't look THAT bad.

The style is unique, and they present it relatively well with the scifi elements. The first thing I thought of was Serious Sam without the craziness after seeing the teasers.

The only bad things I noticed were the characters sounds, the weapon animations, and the mummies acting just like the hl2 zombies. Although it would be rather fun to smash some mummies with some old Egyptian weaponry.

Gives me the old-school Hexen/Heretic vibe.

Curse is good for the only fact that its getting work done. As far as cool factor, I think I could care less. It just honestly looks lame to me and Im shocked it won.

yep the changing sky effect is also really neat. graphic-wise its absolutely good-looking for me.

though i'm not sure about the gameplay.

Changing the sky and lighting real time was awesome, I've never seen that before on the Source engine I belive.
