Zeno Clash Released

Postby ad_hominem on Tue Apr 21, 2009 8:00 pm

The hotly anticipated Dalí-'em-up Zeno Clash has been released on Steam, after a pre-release sale, so head on over to Steam if you were too cautious to pick it up before release. Valve were unusually quiet in their news story:

Already receiving multiple awards, Zeno Clash is a ground-breaking action fighter set in a visually rich, fantasy world.

But the game definitely speaks for itself. Find out more about the game at their official website, or take the plunge on Steam.

Maybe VALVe and the Ace Team didn't share something and VALVe is pissed at them now.

Just played the first parts...

I shat my pants. The graphic, it's awesome, the whole surreal world is epic in it's awesomeness. I dunno what to say. The fighting system rocks.. It's a bit hard at some parts though.

Close steam down and open it again. It was doing that for me until I restarted steam.

Just played some, and I gotta say, it's pretty fun :D

the fighting is good, very refreshing
the art is really awesome, I love the feel of the game

I love just about everything this game has, except:
a. Writing... it's really cheesy at times
b. Voice acting, Ghat's voice is a little too dramatic, and his ladies is a bit un-dramatic. (her voice doesn't match her.)

Finished it in 4-5 hours, excellent graphics, repetitive gameplay, characters have no depth, jarring linearity, and an unsatisfactory ending.

The design is the only thing thats pulling the game together imo.

Did something happen? I played the first part ( ~ 1 hour ) and thought/think it's amazingly awesome; especially the graphics.

However the principal of the flying bee's looked like npc_manhack to me; and the other (dunno what they r called) looked like antlions.. . Maybe it's just me; but they had quite some equal things.

Fighting system was refreshing and vignetted was cool. Graphical style (and massive amount of models? :O ) was absolute a +1.

Visual wise it is really good and different (hooray for not being gunmetal grey and realistic brown)

Gameplay wise, uhm... the melee combat starts to get boring after the fifth encounter or so. I'm not finished yet with it, maybe you learn more skills (I'm past that mentor/teaching thing already though)

What bugged me most, was the lack jumping and the levels themselves, they are so linear and small somehow and the lack of jumping. If you see it for like 10 bucks/quids/€uro, you might want to buy it. I think at the moment it is slightly too expensive.

Well I finished it and I decided I would have rather sat on a drawing pin for the whole 3-4 hours I spent playing it then actually playing it. In my opinion the graphics weren't great the textures were too flat and lacked detail, the levels were linear beyond believe and the voice acting was so bad it would have been better to record some cat sounds and play it over the top and well the story was just confusing and boring.

But hey they made it with source so it is instantly going to sell :x .

Oh and btw this is all my own opinion. Well some it fact
