NeoTokyo Preview

Postby ad_hominem on Wed May 27, 2009 12:21 pm

Due to it's apparently imminent release, the fellows at NeoTokyo have allowed Planet Half-Life a preview of the mod before the rest of us get our hands on it. They rate it very highly, and give a bit more information what we can expect to be playing when the promising mod is finally released.

I know why you’re reading this preview. Neotokyo has been in production for some time now, and you’ve been anticipating it quite a bit. Every little screenshot, model render, map preview - you’ve been there. So have I. Like the passengers of a crashing airliner, we work together here. You’ve come to find out about Neotokyo, and I’m here to tell you whether your predetermined fears about it not being as awesome as it looks are true or not. We both win – you bring commercial success to our website about dick jokes, and I bring you the information you so much desire.

It's a bit of an odd piece, written presumably by someone with an Eva Green fixation, but inbetween the random tangents are a lot of details that those of you waiting to play the game will find interesting. You can read the whole thing over at Planet Half-Life.

Sounds great. I bought their soundtrack the other week, which I must say is very good as well. I haven't really ever followed the progress of this mod, but it's good it's getting some high ratings. Looking forward to play it.

You guys are gonna love it. It was very polished and fun way back when I had my hands on it. I can only assume it's gotten better since.

Hahaha, what is this suppose to be saying? :p

The reviewer gives it full marks. Must be the best thing since Swiss cheese.

Looking forward to trying this out.

The author is also a betatester for the mod and quite a fanboy. To bad that the preview doesn't contain any details about the gameplay itself or the different classes they got.

I'm looking forward to playing NT myself, but I don't trust this previewer at all, he's way too gushy and OMFG ITS AWESOME without actually giving reasons why except THEY WORKED SO HARD and ITS FRICKIN BEAUTIFUL YALL!

That preview was retarded, but I don't think it detracts from the mod at all.

That would be a stupid thing to think anyway.

But yeah, this, Opposing Force 2, Rain Drop, City 17 Ep1, and Black Mesa Source are all on my list of mods I can't wait to play.

"Offbeat culture references"? Someone obviously hasn't watched Ghost in the Shell.

Very interesting game, terrible review. I don't see how it can count as a review when he doesn't (or wasn't allowed to) mention any of the things that really matter.

I agree with all the comments about the review itself. It does really review anything but the emotional impact on himself, and really, that's not anything to go by. To be honest I'm surprised to see such an article on Fileplanet... though should I be?

I'm not interested to see how the game plays. The screenies look good and all, but I haven't seen much about the gameplay, so I'm looking forward to that the most.

It's gonna taste better than pie! Really looking forward to this, everything seems so polished. As aforesaid many times, very, very strange preview though. Particularly before the "offensive content" (as the Chief put it), was removed.
